It is Dr. Suess's birthday tomorrow, and we all should celebrate! In honor of the great Children's book author and illustrator, we are making some totally easy and fun "The Cat in the Hat" Hats. These hats are the perfect accessory for story time or just for some afternoon fun!
Materials you'll need:
- Large White
- Construction Paper (we used an 11 inch by 17 inch piece)
- Red Construction Paper (8.5 inch by 11 inch is fine)
- Tape or glue stick
Step 1.) Draw the hat on the paper, leaving a little bit of room on the side. You will need a 1 inch wide by 17 inch long piece to secure the "Hat" to your head. (See photo)
Step 2.) Cut thick strips of red paper, we cut about 4 or 5 per hat.
Step 4.) Cut out the hat.
Also, cut out the long strip of white paper.
Step 5.) Tape or glue one end of the long strip to the base of the hat. Wrap the other side around your head to make sure it will fit. Secure that side with tape of glue.
Step 6.) Wear your hat and be sure to post pictures for us to see on our Facebook!
