I'm starting to take Thursdays off to focus on Kayla alone. It has been quite a juggling act launching the company, keeping up with all the orders, and still being the wannabe super mom. One of the main reasons why I started BabbaCo was to have the flexibility to spend more time with Kayla. So, I decided to set aside Thursdays for Kayla and Mommy days. No running around packaging BabbaCover, talking on the phone in the car, or replying to emails while she's awake. Thursdays will be for museums, watching Elmo together, and playing in the snow. I loved it today!! This is how it started..."watering plants" was the first activity...not by choice!!

I went upstairs to get changed. Kayla insisted on staying downstairs to play with her new blocks. So, I was probably gone for about 10 minutes...talking to her from upstairs. "Kayla, what color is that block??" "Red!!" "Good!! Save one for mommy, ok?" "OK!" Things were going well for a while, but then, SILENCE. Every parent knows that SILENCE is the worst thing if you don't have an eye on your child. I came down and found her "watering the plants like mommy". *sigh.
I took a picture b/c I was shocked, but more laughing inside b/c this was her first BIG mess so far. When I started cleaning up, I went upstairs to get the vacuum. In that 3 minutes, she grabbed her own floor mop and started cleaning, too. "Me clean too!" It was a very "earthy" start to the day!
Then, we went to a new class I signed up for through our local Park District. It was the Art & ABC's class. We made 4 different projects, which were really creative ideas. Here is one of them that you can do at home, too!
"A is the Alligator"
It's basically a paper plate folded in half. Here are the directions and materials.
1. Fold paper plate in half and color one half green
2. Glue on 2 cotton balls. Then, use black marker to dot the eyes.
3. Glue triangular white paper to the top inside for the alligator's teeth.
4. Glue a red tongue on the bottom inside half.
It's really simple for younger children to do with little guidance. Kayla loved dipping the cotton balls in a little puddle of glue. Afterwards, I used it as a puppet to emphasize "Letter A...A is for Alligator!" It makes a great tickle monster!
Kayla took a nap after her homemade chicken vegetable soup lunch. (I'll have to share that recipe with you soon. I make that at least 2-3 times a month since I gave birth. It's great for the mom, it's healthy, and kids love it!) During her nap, the work never stops, but I got the crucial things done before she woke up.
It was a great and eventful Thursday with Kayla. Thursdays are my new "Fridays" that I look forward to. I'm happily exhausted. :) Excited to share our art projects, lunch recipes, and 'adventures' with you.
